Every Drops Counts

Every Drop Counts
Performance Installation: Ferring Strand
Video Installation: 4 minuttes

In Every Drop Counts performance artist Marie Hauge Jensen and her mother sit at opposite ends of a large canvas. Between them, a single candle burns, its wax slowly dripping onto the surface. Each drop leaves a lasting mark—some merging together, others standing apart—forming a quiet record of time, presence, and care.

This performance explores vulnerability and connection. The act of dripping wax is both gentle and irreversible, much like the small, everyday gestures that shape our closest relationships. Through repetition and patience, the performance becomes a ritual of giving and receiving, marking both distance and intimacy.

Wax can protect, but it can also burn. This duality reflects the complexity of family bonds—tender yet fragile, nurturing yet transformative. Over time, the canvas becomes a shared imprint of memory, care, and the invisible traces we leave on each other.

Every Drop Counts reminds us that even the smallest actions matter. Through its delicate yet powerful simplicity, the performance invites the audience to reflect on how time, love, and presence are shaped by the quiet moments we often overlook.
